Doug McLeod is the principal of Skye Emergency Preparedness (previously known as Skye Emergency Planning). The proprietorship has been providing consulting services in the field of emergency response preparedness and business continuity management to clients since 2007.

Doug has successfully completed emergency management courses at the Justice Institute of BC, and the Business Continuity Planning (Accelerated) course through the Disaster Recovery Institute Canada (DRI Canada). He attained the designation of Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP) from DRI Canada in 2008 and continues to be a member of that organization.

Prior to forming Skye Emergency Preparedness, Doug was employed by BC Hydro. He led the corporation’s emergency planning functions for 11 years. In that capacity he coordinated the emergency planning activities of all business groups and was responsible for corporate level emergency planning, including the Corporate Emergency Centre.

BC Hydro is a founding member of the Emergency Preparedness for Industry and Commerce Council (EPICC). Doug represented BC Hydro on the council’s Board of Directors from 1998 to 2006, and was Chair of the Board of Directors from 2002 through 2004. He continues to be an active member of EPICC.

Doug was a project manager and design engineer with BC Hydro for 21 years before taking on his emergency planning functions. He graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in 1974 and a Master of Engineering degree in 1979. He attained registration as a Professional Engineer in BC in 1977. He resigned his membership and registration in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC in 2011 as he no longer practices as a Professional Engineer.
